Many of you know that the headquarters office for International Family Services is located in the Houston suburb of Friendswood (south of downtown Houston on the way to Galveston). Friendswood received the third highest rain fall in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. One third (1/3) of Friendswood (population 39,000) homes have flooded, some an inch, some 5+ feet. Three of the four major creek crossings in town were still under water as of Wednesday afternoon, August 30, although, levels have been receding.

We are pleased to report that it appears that our International Family Services headquarters office has been spared from the flooding experienced by so many of our friends and neighbors. We’re slowly hearing from client families with reports of the good, the bad and the ugly.

In the immediate aftermath staff will be in and out of the office to take care of essential tasks and communications while also trying to help friends and neighbors get back into their flooded homes. Thank you for your prayers and support.
